G'Day, Not sure if these points have been mentioned but I've found sitting, lying or pressing on the stern to raise the cockpit out of the water can be an easier way to empty a capsized boat than lifting the bow by your self. Pushing down on the stern also helps the rescuer if you are the "victim" and some one else is lifting the bow. I'm assuming of course that the kayak has intact flotation in the front and rear compartments. Another method which works on a capsized boat, at least on my small cockpit boat, is lifting the side of the coaming above the water.
