A recent post suggested that white water boater/list members - consider themselves "slumming". Not so. A white water open boater I am (canoe class IV- V), slumming I am not. In the last few months I have acquired five years of experience in a sport I want to learn, but without even owning a boat. The subjects discussed are generally superb, and, better yet, well thought out and articulated. There is no substitute for the real reality, but when I end up way off shore (more than a three hundred yards!!) I will not be terrified, just scarred. Oh yes, when trees are being blown over, I have been in the middle of lakes in sailboats, power boats and canoes . Now that is really terrifying stuff. No quick swim to shore there. This is not to say you guys are nuts, but ----. Thanks for the help.
