Hey all,
I need to cut a paddle in half (fiberglass shaft). I am getting it
converted to a two piece. Anyone have any tips on the type of
saw/blade to use? Thanks!

A good chop saw or compound miter saw works great. You can also use your
table saw with an appropriate fixture for cut-off work. In all cases,
wrap the shaft with some tape at the cut, and use the finest blade you
can (I use a teflon cross-cut blade, 10"). Do wear a mask and goggles,
as you are cutting into fiberglass. A dust mask isn't a bad idea either.
Make sure both sides of the cut are supported before, during, and just
after the cut. Please note I have no official expertise in this area,
but the above has worked fine for me.

Patrick,

For the best cut, I'd use an abrasive cut-off wheel in my miter saw (10" slide compound). This will have a slightly larger kerf than a hacksaw blade, but the cut will be smooth and straight...
