A 15 year old boy drowned in a 4.5 acre pond while fishing yesterday in
Fuquay-Varina. Yes, that is the name of a town just south of Raleigh, NC.
8-) The boy was fishing with his cousin around the pond when they decided
to paddle a small boat into the pond. They would put their feet over the
side of the boat at which point the boat would take on water and they would
then pull their feet back in. They did this several times before deciding
that the boat was going to sink and they had better swim to shore. One boy
made it and the other did not. The boat was found floating in the pond.

We have had a heat wave over the last five days or so with the temps in the
high 80s almost getting to 90. Prior to this heat wave the temps have been
usually below 60 for a high with lows in the 30s-40s. The pond's water
temp was 58 degrees.
