Boy, that foamed-in skiboot brought back memories! I have a pair of Caber boots that have the option of using a regular molded foam insert or, a bladder that can be filled with foam. A friend of mine has a bed pillow made of some sort of foam that conforms to your body's contours while still supporting you. This would be the trick for seats, and all sorts of braces except, I bet it would act like a big sponge if submerged.
