Neils, you might want to take a look at the Bucket Seat model at
http://www.rapid-pulse.com/touring.htm. I find it to be very comfortable,
came standard on my QCC 600. It is a one-piece seat and back unit, the back
attaches like a backband by means of shock cord, and the seat bottom is
attached by velcro to the fiberglass seat in my boat. This would at least
solve the problem you are having w/ the backband flipping around on re-entry.
The seat bottom is well secured by the velcor - no sloppiness, or slipping
around. Comfort is of course subjective, works for me.
