This is the way Yakima wants you to do it.  I pulled a Frank Sinatra ("I Did It
Myyy Way") because it allowed me to move everything forward, so the yaks only
overhang the rear bumper some 3 feet.  Also got plates at the front of the
canopy for bike racks, etc.  Michael's method is Yakima-approved.  Mine is
not.  No leaks or cracks, after three seasons of rough use.
