Dave, MN has registration of kayaks. It's the same "Watercraft" decal that all boats are required to display and it costs $15.00. Another wrinkle to MN "registration" is that, in order to register the boat, you must have proof that Sales Tax has been paid on it ...., NO MATTER WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT. I bought my boat in WI and had it shipped to my home in MN, paying no sales tax. When I went to register it, I had to cough up 7% of the price I paid for it for MN State Sales Tax. If I had paid the tax in WI it would have only been 6% BUT, MN would have then charged me the 1% difference! What do we get for it? Nothing, nothing at all. It's just another way to rip people off in "The Land of 10,000 Taxes". I suppose this tax thing could be implemented in Oregon too, right along with registration. Better check that aspect out.
