Is there any way we could be referred to a site with a list of who has a site that offers paddling-related items of possible interest without violating the policy? I subscribe (was ev-updates and now I think it's through Yahoo) to a list that caters to VW EuroVan owners and wannabe owners. One guy mentioned he had a custom-made bag that fits in the over-the-cab storage well. A lot of us were interested and they organized it so we could place our orders from the manufacturer within a 2 or 3-week time frame. As a result of this bulk-buying venture, we were able to get them at a special discounted rate of $62 instead of the regular $80. Just thought I'd mention it. sandy kramer miami *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Well there is rec.boat.paddle there is a ton of stuff advertised on it. I read it occasionally but it is so cluttered with commercial postings about boats for sale etc, much of the boating dialogue is lost. There is a troll on the group who posts incessantly about sponsons, and he sells them. I finally got tired of reading it. One of the reasons I sought out this group is because there is more boating discussion less selling. You might try posting some of the commercial stuff on that newsgroup, or e-mail privately if someone is looking for something. I often look at websites in the signature line so I think a personal website is an effective way of getting the message out. BTW I would like to have a discussion of sponsons but I have been a little timid to bring it up, thinking some folks might be saturated from rec.boat.paddle. I wondered of the pros and cons of them versus paddle floats. I was starting to dismiss them completely because of never ending posts on rec boat. Anyone have any experience comparing the 2? -- MZ website: http://members.home.net/mzuschlag -----Original Message----- From: owner-paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net [mailto:owner-paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net]On Behalf Of Gypsykayak_at_aol.com Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2001 9:11 AM To: paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net Subject: [Paddlewise] Fwd: An Apology In a message dated 01-04-25 19:28:49 EDT, you write: << Hasn't been just a few things that I was excited to announce to the list, deals and such, that the 'delete before send' button saved me from embarrassment... >> While fully understanding the "no commercialization" policy, I also think it's a pity that this paddling community will be deprived of knowing about things that we might just want to buy. Anyone have any experience comparing the 2? -- MZ Tim deserves significant credit for the creation of paddlewise. Jackie did the work, Tim drove us out. Early on there was a discussion of sponsons that Jackie has up on the paddlewise site. http://www.paddlewise.net/topics/boatequip/sponson.html *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). I really liked Wayne Steffens' 1/28/98 description of Jackie as the Paddlewise Paddlequeen. I think she should have this embroidered on her P'wise cap! :) sandy kramer *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
