Everyone knows by now (I hope) my Dagger Sitka is for sale. Many have
asked what my replacement kayak is going to be. Here is a picture of my
replacement kayak on its maiden paddle. I wanted a little more volume
for longer trips, and of course that meant a little more freeboard. But
then that gave me the opportunity to take more friends paddling, and to
prepare Venetian Italian dinners served by torch light on full moon
evening paddles. Only disadvantage....I had to get a longer paddle. See

subject: [Paddlewise] Jetski incident followup
Date: Sun, 29 Apr 2001 21:08:56
I just got back from a nice trip on the chain of lakes in NE Indiana where
we had the jetski incident three weeks ago. The four of us that were
involved in the trip were there, along with six other friends and family
members. It was a nice trip. We spent some time searching the shore near
the incident in hopes that we could find Joel's expensive sunglasses, but
no luck. On the beach where we had planned to stop the last time, we saw
the first bikini of the season, always a milestone in this neck of the
woods. The only problem we had was a little sunburn on the beautiful day.
We even had a guy on a jetski stop and ask how we were doing -- it turned
out to be the guy that had provided coffee, towels and a cell phone when we
stopped at his house to recover. I'm glad we had a good trip; I was just a
little gunshy about going out there again.

As to the jetski punk: I have been told, unofficially and thirdhand, that
the local prosecutor plans to write the punk and his girl friend up for
three counts of aggravated criminal recklessness, which could bring up to a
year in jail and a $5000 fine for each count. I hope to have the official
word in a few days.

Thanks to everyone that offered support.

I just want to clarify that Wes is speaking about a "chain of lakes in NE Indiana", NOT Chain O'Lakes State Park in NE Indiana. Chain O'Lakes State Park is a wonderful place to paddle. All powercraft are prohibited at Chain O'Lakes State Park with the exception of electric trolling motors.

Correct. The incident occurred on Snow Lake, near Pokagon State Park. I do
need to go down and check out Chain o'Lakes sometime, though.
