I never thought I'd regret my muscular manly thighs...

I just bought a used OTC Millennium 160. The 160's I've been in did not
have thigh braces, but mine does. I found that where they are located hits
me wrong: not wide enough so the end which is somewhat pointed digs into my
mid thigh (If they came out another inch or two they'd be perfect).

I removed them and the boat fits me fine, but I think in a hard brace or
roll my thigh is going to come out from under the deck. I would like to
find a set of thigh braces that are a bit wider to replace them with but am
having trouble finding any. I will be contacting OTC to see if I am correct
in my belief that these braces come in "one size fits nobody" (except very
small kayakers), or it I can get a broader/wider brace from them. I am not
sure if the last owner installed them and cut them down...

Does anyone know of a company that makes thigh braces?

If Mill160's don't come with thigh braces usually, I'd guess the previous
owner canniablized an old white water boat and screwed them in. You can
probably do the same. I've discovered that Perception WW thigh braces fit
Sea Lions, and we stuck some (forget which manufacturer) in a friend's
Narpa. I like Dagger thigh braces a lot. I'm sure that any Dagger,
Perception, or Wave Sport dealer will sell you some, since their boats
come with different sized thigh braces as options, but check around the
local WW guys first. They've likely got some sitting around from a boat
they broke. Of course, you'll have to listen to the story of how they
broke it, first. Be sure to act suitably impressed. "Heinous, dude!" is
always an appropriate response.
