NatureI on the other hand have not had problems with splashed water on my Garmin GPS 12. No dunking though. I always defer to the man with experience on dunking "waterproof" items. Garmin does say that it is good for 30 min at 1 meter though and I would be surprised if they could pass the standard if it didn't do it. Vincent's experience may be a slight manufacturing defect. My normal paddle is f.. an out and back on the ocean. The main problem with the GPS 12 is the g.. battery compartment is not waterproof at all. Garmin expects you to replace h.. the batteries everytime you drop it in the water or when it gets wet. Using i.. a waterproof bag means the GPS won't fit in the mount and glare on the j.. screen becomes a major problem. The only way to seal the battery compartment k.. is with a silicone based sealant.
