I don't like hooks on kayaks - one day you'll be in a jam and have to re-enter on the starboard side and be in trouble. How about a Velcro loop on the lifeline on one side? You could jam one blade under a bungie way forward and then wrap the loop around the shaft close to you. If a bungie isn't available, rig one with a couple of beads on it to keep it slightly clear of the deck to make it easier to slide the blade under.
