[Paddlewise] paddling efficiency

Certainly, impedance matching has something to do with efficiency. 
For each of us there should be some optimal drag that would allow the 
most efficient transfer of energy to forward propulsion (cadence will 
be a variable).   Like the right gear ratio for drive train with 
attached mass for some particular hill.  The ideal for most efficient 
energy transfer is to match output and input impedances.  For racing, 
especially  in short races, efficiency can be sacrificed for speed. 
Perhaps some young scientist can provide a more lucid description.
