Dear Jim, The currents in the Woods Hole area are absolutely some of the hairiest in New England. You will see four foot chop there on an average day. I have played about there once, but I am not good enough yet to voluntarily make the crossing to the Vinyard. I trust you will get better advice from the more experienced. Have a good trip. If you want to stop by for a beer just e-mail and we'll work it out.
