Pelicans here in the PNW too! (in summer).  There is a very small island
in Grays Harbor that is the summer residence for about 2500+ brown - and a
few white - Pelicans.  I love to watch them fly and fish.  The precision
with which they skim the water is so beautiful to watch.  Truly amazing
birds.
