I'm glad I saw Mike's post...

I paddled a friends Perception Vizcaya (I find Perception Touring boats to
be overwhelmingly comfortable), as he paddled my OTC Millennium 160.

It was like paddling sitting on a sofa... The cockpit is wider and the seat
is to die for, the thigh pads hit me just right.

I thought, after that, that I may try to change my seat and cockpit.
Perhaps put in a Perception seat and thigh braces if I can find one that
fits. I remember posts about taking the seat out altogether and building
something up from the ground up (at the very least I am going to take the
seat out and see how the darn thing feels without a seat. I suspect I may
Velcro in a Harmony thick seat pad (1") and build up the sides, but I need
to see if that's the problem first). I thought that maybe if I could tilt
the existing seat forward, to drop the front edge, it might be more
comfortable, mostly because what I noticed most going from my boat to his
was that my legs weren't being pushed up by the seat at the front. His boat
is considerably wider than mine as well...

I think the seat may be the source of my problem, and it's alignment with
the cockpit, but it may take some experimenting to solve. In retrospect, I
think this is more likely to be the solution, though flexibility should
help!

I love my kayak too much to let the cockpit make me give it up...
