I am proud to announce that my daughter gave birth to a baby girl last night. Sharra Lyn Newcomb was born at 7:47 EST, she weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. Her parents have promised to raise her as her mother was raised, to be a good paddler with love of the outdoors and respect for the environment. Mike Far too young to be a grandfather, but enjoying it anyway. -- Paddling along through fog so thick that only one's thoughts are visible, your reverie is abruptly shattered by the ancient cry of a great blue heron as she lifts uncertainly from the brilliant blue of a mussel-shell beach witnessed only by the brooding, wet spruce....your passage home seems as much back through time as it does through space.
