Sid, This is just a quick rundown but it a starting point I've got experience with spraying cars and the process although I've been waiting for the time to do it and warmer weather. If your getting into it you'll find most people would agree respraying for repairs really isn't worth it. Once you look at cost of equipment it's not worth it. It's also tuff to spray colors thin and still match. Plus Your adding weight to the boat. I was going to do it as a learning process because I'd like to build my own mold for a w.w. boat some day. I've got most of the equipment but haven't had the time. Anyway Yes, you need to thin it down and for a spray gun I would recommend a gravity feed gun or cheaper cup gun. You'll find most guns are for car paint with small tips. They can be changed. Something used for primer around 1.8 to 2.0 mm should work well. I would also look at some thinning agents like Dura-tech. It allows you to spray gel coat without needing any waxes and also helps increase gloss so you don't needto sand and polish as much. I'm sure others can tell you about the bad effects of gel coat on the body and the earth. If your still going to go for it let me know back channel. I'd be happy to give you more info and some places that sell supplies. JFF >I am interested in knowing if anyone out there in Paddlewise land has >experience spraying gelcoat.
