As Rick discovered, this URL doesn't work right now., so I'll answer this
first here then go and fix it. I recently moved my kayak database to new
web application environment (Tomcat) which resulted in a URL change. Try
this instead:

http://mayfly.mannlib.cornell.edu/kayakdb/

I originally wrote the database as a feasibility test to demonstrate the
use of Java, MySQL, and JDBC to others in my department. Originally it
only had about a dozen kayaks in it, but then I started adding more to it
from home and it took on a life of it's own. It now has statistics for
over 800 models and I know that there are a lot of new ones since the last
time I touched the database. It doesn't have anything in it about
bulkheads, hatches, volumne, or design characteristics though. Trying to
obtain all that information for enough different models to make it useful
would require more time that I have to put into it. I *have* thought about
trying to add links to pictures of specific models (though I wouldn't store
them on my machine) and links to the reviews in paddling.net.
