Hello all, In the quest for safety (that, I now, can only be found in training) I am going to purchase a VHF. In my neighbourhood I can obtain only a few models: the Icom IC-M1V and the Simrad HT 50. Anybody on the list that has comments from real life on both models, or should I even look for different brands? I am most interested in relaibility, ease of use (within a drybag) and reception / transmission quality. Main purpose for the VHF will be for weatherforecasts and for emergencies (I hope never, but in that case it must realy work). I realise that there have been several threads on paddlewise on this topic, but regretfully I forgot to save them.
