Melissa, I am certain a wetsuit would stop the stingers, but wash it off well after an encounter. I have read accounts of Australian lifeguards who rigged nylon pantyhose to wear over their arms and legs to protect them from jellyfish--perhaps something like that would still allow you to wear the shorty wetsuit.
