Here's a link to an article highlighting the Wilderness Kayak Institute.
Sorry if I was harsh towards them in a recent post. I'm sure they don't
directly support the removal of native artifacts from beaches such as
Open Bight, etc. However, its a huge issue up here in BC right now, even
the land tenure issue. Can you say "thin edge of the wedge?" I was
speaking to a First nations young man this past weekend who told me
about finding an ancient child's game exposed in the sand at a low tide
during the "Vision Quest" trip, and how sacred it was and that no one
touched it. I hope kayakers keep the same respect. One of the hereditary
chiefs near Port Hardy was so incensed with some of the recent
advertising to modern paddlers about his area, he wrote to the editor of
Sea Kayaker in the recent issue. Anyway, link below. I'll shut up now.
