I poked around a bit more today on the phone, as I wanted to ascertain what went wrong on the Chilliwack River. I heard Rick was playing in a "park-and-play" hole, awaiting friends (as opposed to running some gnarly canyon on his own). So what went wrong? Well, it turns out the situation is similar to the one where the big Norwegian died on the Canadian eastern coast last year - it wasn't the solo aspect that killed them. Rick apparently died, according to my source, from a heart attack. For those of us prone to these premature life ending episodes, checking out while engaged in one's favorite pastime is perhaps the way to go if you have to go anyway. Just wanted to pass on the update. My appologies to those who find these post mortum discussions distasteful. doug *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). In my opinion, it's the *best* way to go! "If" you have to go anyway? Is there an if in it?
