This weekend we were paddling on the East Cooper River in Charleston, SC. As a standard part of this trip, I take people into the waters of Patriot's Point, where the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown and other retired warships are permanently moored. Within minutes of our arrival, a dock worker was dispatched to inform us that there was now a 200 yard security perimeter around the vessels, and that we were in violation, and would we please leave.
