I would suggest stowing empty bags, if the outside is dry, under your
tail end.  If you can make a neat pile that doesn't shift around too
much and isn't too lumpy, you'll be warmer.  People often have the pad
under their head;  it is better to make a pillow with a stuff sack or
fleece jacket, and leave the top of the pad for your shoulders.
