They seem very reasonable. It seems to be up to the shipping manager what counts as sufficient packing in order to receive insurance. We had to box one kayak for it to be insured. I'm not sure if the other kayak which came in cardboard was insured. Forward Air is truck freight between airports (or near airports). My husband can add more later if others don't.
