[Paddlewise] Sea Line Rudder and the rest of the story

I was charged $375 for the Seal Line rudder and after some discussion on
this list it seemed possible that I was over charged. I called Seal LIne
and they said a new rudder system was $250. I called the shop where I
purchased the rudder and asked them about the discrepancy. They called Seal
Line and today they called me and said there was an error in the price, and
I would be receiving a refund of $125. I looked at their price sheet and it
was very confusing so I understood how the error was made. The shop has
always treated me well, and they followed up promptly as I requested. So a
big thank-you for the comments.

For the record the blade extends about 8 inches above the deck and the pivot
point is 4 inches below the deck (Solstice GTS).

At the Sea kayak symposium I tried the CD extreme, and I really enjoyed
paddling it. It was more manueverable than the Solstice GTS, was extremely
fast with very good secondary stability. The boat tracks really well (seems
to be a CD trade mark).

On another topic has anyone used the Trekker Tarp by Walrus. In January I'm
headed to Baja for a couple of weeks of paddling and I wanted to take it
(and a ground cloth) in lieu of a tent. I like the idea of a tent and tarp
all in one. -- MZ
