	Thanks All for your responses;  we have a front loading machine so I'll
give my ol' bag a whirl around in that and see what comes out.   If I just
get a pile of tired old chook [ bird ] feathers at the end of the wash
cycle,  hey nothing is lost,  the bag is at least 25 years old. 
	I think some folks are like me; we get attached to our old gear,  but I
have to admit those new fangled bags with artificial fill are better in a
marine environment.
There are a couple of brands on the market here which you can compress to
the size of a large softball and weigh under a kilo [ 2 lb ].  They are all
you need at sea level in a temperate, or sub-tropical climate.
	On the matter of bag liners, they are always in the kit of those who care
for their bags;  the best ones are silk,  weigh nothing and pack small.
