Thanks to everyone who sent me info on paddling up in
the Washington/Oregon area. We had a great trip and
everyone was a lot of fun. In fact, it was enough fun
that I think I better get a touring boat to compliment
my ww boat. Can folks comment on some good designs
for the Colorado area. I have paddled Ruby/Horsethief
Canyons and would really like a boat capable of that
kind of river. I can see a trip up to the Yellowstone
area as a good possibility too. It seems like most of
our water is either rocky reservoirs or rocky rivers.
So I was thinking that an indestructible plastic boat
might be best. A couple of boats that caught my eye
are the Prijon Yukon Expedition and the Sun/Riot Max
Velocity for their versatility. What have all of your
experiences been?

Scot

I am paddling these "rocky" reservoirs in Colorado and Wyoming as well as
different portions of the Colorado River including Ruby/Horsethief with my
Patuxent 19.5 - a home built stitch-and-glue kayak from CLC. This is a fast kayak
but certainly not the strongest one. I don't see a need for anything stronger for
these type of waters. Recently, I bought Krugers Sea Wind decked canoe to
extend my paddling waters to smaller wilde rivers like the Dismal in Nebraska.

You can check my web site http://www.frii.com/~uliasz/wayfarer
for my paddling destinations.

sorry to be brief, just saw this come past ;-) i currently run the rocky
mountain sea kayak club's website at http://www.dotzen.org/paddler/rmskc

i have a yukon expedition, plus a seda viking. the viking is great for the
river trips, shorter than most sea kayaks, far more roomy than the xp!!

have to run to drs appt. email me off line if you want more info.
