hi folks, my husband often mentions wanting to fish in his boat. he paddles a carolina, but we've also just purchased a used keowee II (which we call "the couch") which would be great for fishing. he would be day tripping only, and fishing in estuaries or on san pablo or tomales bay (we are in northern calif.). for Christmas i'm thinking of getting him some basic tackle, and i would welcome suggestions as to how to outfit him for his first kayak-fishing trip. here is what i have come up with so far: rod holder to be mounted on boat (clamps) rod and reel (how long/heavy a rod?) anchor for kayak net container (no big deal) with lid for fish cooler for frosty lager (or, in the winter, coffee or hot tea) and snacks do any of you fish from your boats? and are there forums for kayak fishing that i need to know about? i've looked on a search engine but not found anything so far. best wishes to all, kcd *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
