On our Ocala National Forest kayak trip, we floated down through the lovely swampy forests of the Ochlawaha River, paddled under a sky high bridge out in the middle of nowhere, paddled around a bend where the river grew wider, and... there they were: The Eureka Lock and Dam . They don't open or close, they are abandoned and just...SIT THERE. I thought you would enjoy the surprise, too. G'Day Marinelli, Thanks for the link to your web page. Magnificent set of photographs - particularly "Faceoff" the heron? looking at the tortoise? Did you have to use a zoom lens? or was the heron so intent on supper that you were able to get so close! All the best, PeterO *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
