Just bought this yesterday (knockout photo on the front cover), so I've only skimmed through it. They include a lot of historical information, which I found very appealing. And a small map of each paddling destination.

Paddler's Guide to the Sunshine State by Sandy Huff. 2001 publication date. $29.95 soft cover. 450 pp. University Press of Florida ISBN 0-8130-2282-7

It has sections with Tips for Paddling in Florida, Camping the Florida Way, Camp Cooking, common flora and fauna, and 91 destinations, including outfitter contact info.

"Each destination chapter stars with information to help you prepare for your trip: Length, Current, Skill Level, Wind, Emergency Numbers, Rentals, DeLorme's gazetteer page number references, and info on the official Florida Canoe Trail.

A great companion to my latest: Florida Camping by Marilyn Moore, Tom Dubocq, Sally Deneen, and Robert McClure, Foghorn Outdoors Press.

$19.95, 620 pp, ISBN 1-56691-215-6

This is an awesome book, a lot of detailed info as well as special interest indexes that include Bike Trails/Paths, Boat Ramps, Fishing, Forests, Golf, Hiking/Hiking Trails, Historical Sites, Horseback Riding, Hunting, Lake Campgrounds, Natural Springs, Rafting/Canoeing, Snorkeling, Views, Wildlife Viewing.
