i have a lightning paddle--- it's blemished and i got it on discount, a big 
discount--- it's very light with a long paddle face.  people tend to think 
it has a lot of flutter--- i thought that---- but the stabbing motion seems 
to completely correct or compensate for that, and it's light, easy, speedy, 
and efficient in the water.  i can't speak to the science of it, just to 
how well my rather slow boat keeps up with the sleek ones.
