Anyone have experience/opinions concerning handheld VHF radios? I am considering a Standard HX350S. I don't carry a cell phone and thought this one might serve double duty as an emergency CB in my truck when I wasn't paddling. I have just finished reading "Deep Trouble" and it threw a healthy dose of worry into me concerning having an ability to call for help. Recommendations as to battery types would be helpful as well.
