I have the canon S 100 which I just upgraded to the S110 which works well. If you need deeper, more zoom and higher rez., the sony seems nice. The size and shutter delay sold the canon to me. Both of these cameras have a waterproof case made specifically for the camera. Both are within your budget constraints. Most of the images I make do not require a long zoom.
