I opted for a Nikon coolPix 990, but that may be more camera than you need. The cases for these cameras are pretty spendy often $300 +, an inexpensive alternative is the Ewa ( http://www.ewa-marine.de/home.htm ) it is still often over $100. If you want something small the Elph digital by Canon is excellent and Canon makes waterproof housing for them. Also Olympus makes good cameras and they have waterproof housings (check out the wet pixel site for pictures). Steves digicam has great unbiased reviews of many cameras. If you want to check in with a usenet group that focuses on digital cameras check out rec.photo.digital There are many professional photographers who post on the site and lots of different camera users. I haven't noticed any flame wars just great information. If your browser isn't configured for usenet groups then check them out via Google groups. http://groups.google.com/ You can post to the group using google. Your camera can cook in a case so I keep mine in my deck back. Good luck with your choice. One last tip if you have a Costco nearby they have Photoshop Elements on sale for $74 and a rebate coupon for $30. Great deal! Photoshop elements will allow you to stitch together panorama shots, do touch-ups, remove red eye... etc. It is a great addition to your camera. Go digital and post your pictures on the web we want to see them! If you can afford it try to get a camera in at least the 2 megapixel range. The resolution on the pictures is much better. -- MZ visit my website: http://www.mzuschlag.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
