My thanks to all who have offered support. I WILL speak up. As far as forcing people to view safety-oriented information, I believe people that rent boats could, and should do that, if only to protect their gear. They would all have to band together so that people who wanted to rent could not discriminate against a rental who forced the video, choosing instead one who didn't. Here in the US, some states have a mandatory "helmet law" for people who ride motorcycles, and some states don't. When you think about the cost to society of maintaining forever someone in a coma with a head injury, something that looks like a violation of your civil rights becomes more reasonable. But sea kayakers just die. And that's cheaper.
