May I suggest polyester lines instead of nylon.  Available in good quality at
any marine supply shop.  The reason is the old problem of nylon's dimensional
instability when going through wet/dry cycles (i.e stretches when wet, shrinks as
it dries).  Having gone through this a few times, I've replaced all nylon tie-downs
with polyester.  1/4" braid is fine, as Matt suggests.
