I guess I missed something here. But I do have a bigger reality check: 

John Winters has been providing this list with tons of great information
and entertainment for many years. Paddlewise has had many good
contributors come and go, but John is one of the few that have stuck
around and continued to share his professional knowledge, experience and
even hilarious creative writing talents with us. Personally, I usually
find his "attitude" to be refreshing. 

I sincerely hope that the remarks of a few Paddlewisers who apparently
don't appreciate his thoughts on nomenclature won't cause him to stop
contributing in the future. 

If we drive away the paddlesport professionals who are generous enough
to share their knowledge, experience and valuable time with us, we will
end up with another one of those forums where all we have is people who
don't know what they're talking about misinforming everyone else.

And perhaps the spelling police can send any corrections to me privately
and spare the list from deleting yet another worthless message.
