Well I bit the bullet and bought the Standard 460S. West marine had them for $250. Not cheap, but better safe than sorry. I opted to spend the extra $50 over the 350S because the 460S has a lith-ion battery that doesn't develop a memory, is much smaller and can be dropped from about three feet onto a hard surface and not be damaged. The size was a huge incentive because it will be more comfortable to keep on my PFD and the ruggedness appealed to me because I am very rough on equipment. Keep in mind I have just purchased this radio and do not yet know how well it will live up to the manufacturers claims. I should have a valid opinion in about a year. Of course by then something smaller, lighter and sexier will be out. Hopefully I will want to keep what I have.
