Oh, what a sad passing. I currently own Nikonos cameras 3 and 4. #1 is at the bottom of a large lake (forget paddle tethers- use a camera tether!) . #2 was stolen. #4 is almost completely repaired- shutter release still is a bit sluggish- and #3 is my regular working outdoor camera. The IIs and IIs were the best general outdoor cameras ever made. It's not widely know, but the Nikonos was very popular with news photogs in Vietnam.
