Here's a bow line rig that's quick and easy to hook up. It takes two pieces of rope and hooks to the tie-down eyelets that most cars have at each corner of the body. 1) First piece of rope is about as long as the car is wide. Tie an S-hook to each end. The final length of the rope should be just long enough to allow the hooks to be easily fastenend and disconnected from the eyelets on the car body. 2) Second piece of rope is longer than the car is tall. Make a bowline loop in one end and pass the first piece of rope through the loop. Use the other end to tie down the bow. A little tension in the tie-down ensures that the S-hooks stay in the eyelets. Bow line might be a misnomer. Whatever-end-sticks-out-over-the-front-rig might be a better name. I haven't been able to make this work at the back of the car -- the first rope would pass under the exhaust pipe.
