Don't count out the clubs too fast. I'm not in a club either, but from what I've seen, you can have a hundred people in a club but only 1/2 dozen show up for a paddle. Plus, if groups get too large, it's fairly common to break them up into sub-groups (it's a safety issue) that often end up going at different paces and somewhat different courses. Just something to consider.
