Hello Wilky, Which part of Tassie are you in, on the Derwent, or the Tamar estuary? Those whirlpools sound like fun, in a way. I'm in Melbourne, and there's quite a few stitch and glue boats in the VSKC fleet now. You should come over and check them out. Last Sunday we had a Cape Charles, a Patuxent, a North Bay large or high volume, and two Seguins along on the regular monthly club dawdle paddle. They have collectively taken on the name of the "Kindling Club", as the club President once commented that he liked wooden boats along on trips, they kept the campfire going all night.
