If we are only are allowed to be critical about things
that people on this list can personally respond to...?
(and what to think about the poor boats we talk about?)

Besides, it is not the person who is criticized here, but the information
he has given in his book. Certainly when you write a book,
I think people have the right, and knowledgeable people even have
some obligation(?), to express their opinion about it.
Because the information in a book like that of Derek Hutchinson
will be repeated many many times in other peoples books and
articles in magazines and so. Which has the effect of
a whole lot of nonsense repeatedly turning up in those writings,
just because an 'authority' wrote it...

I know very well that giving 'simple' information about complicated
matters is extremely difficult. But that doesn't mean you do not have
to work hard to get it as right as possible?!
