Evan, make sure you try it in cold water with your eyes closed. There are times that it is impossible to see the grab loop. I normally clip the most forward part of my chart case to the deck bungies closest to me and just let the chart lay on top of my skirt. Only the 2 furthest points are attached to the boat. When I don't need the chart, I flip it forward under the bungies.
