Brit boats can be modified for comfort. To me, they are worth it.

Pretty much any boat can be modified for comfort to some degree. Joan was
commenting on the low back bands found on some Brit boats. What I have
found is that there are quite a few boats out there with molded seats which
back rests that are way too high. If it's a molded fiberglass seat the
only way to really modify it is to cut it out and start from scratch. I've
often praised the Seaward boats because their seats are so easy to
customize. The back band consists of a hard plastic "C" shaped piece that
is covered with a removable piece of foam. It's real easy to shave off as
much from the top to get a back band that fits just right. The seat itself
is just a piece of foam inside a nylon sack. Customizing the seat is as
easy as replacing the foam with something carved to fit. In my experience,
I have observed that peoples butts and hips come in a wide range of shapes
and sizes. While some people might laud the comfort of a particular molded
fiberglass seat, the chances that it's going to fit a wide range of body
shapes and sizes are low. Something that is easy to customize just seems
to make more sense to me.
