Hello fellow paddlewisers, Many of you are aware that PaddleWise was established four years ago out of a need for a semi-moderated paddling list where ideas, questions, knowledge, suggestions, trip-reports about paddling could be posted in a friendly environment and where paddlers could connect and arrange paddling trips with one-another. After four years of maintaining PaddleWise, I've decided to "retire." :-) Kirk Olsen, list-owner for several years to the baidarka list, will be taking over as list-owner to PaddleWise. We are in the transitioning phase right now. We are indeed fortunate that Kirk has agreed to accept this responsibility and I would like to thank him. I wanted to say that you folks are a great group and I have been very proud to be list-owner to PaddleWise, the best world-wide paddling list around. You make it so. It is the valuable contributions of its members that is the life-blood of PaddleWise and I want to thank all those who have contributed to making PaddleWise what it is today. Thanks to all the original folks who demonstrated their confidence and trust in a somewhat reluctant list-owner attempting to launch a new list by jumping in with their enthusiastic posts from the very start. The generosity of PaddleWisers, your willingness to share knowledge, experiences, and stories with others as well as houses to traveling paddlers from around the world, never ceases to amaze me :-) It's a true joy. Thanks, folks. You are the best :-) And a big thanks to Bob Myers whose expertise brought not only PaddleWise, but other padding lists on-line as well as the PaddleWise and GASP websites. You have had a light but steady hand with managing potential rough water and in keeping the list on course, with lots of interesting side trips. Many great words have been expressed to describe and praise Jackie's work with our list and I'd like to add one from my perspective. Nurture ! Jackie has tended and nurtured our list all this time to bring it to the excellent vehicle it is. An outstanding accomplishment. Thank you. And, Jackie, you've turned it over to good hands. I also know Kirk from the baidarka list and appreciate him taking this on. Both these lists have been and continue to be such a rich resource. Much as I hate "me too" posts, I want to thank Jackie for the great help she has been to all of us. Althgouh I've never set eyes on here IRL, I feel like she is a personal friend.
