I have a farmer john "wet" suit made of fuzzy rubber and I think it is great for kayaking. Very flexible, non binding and comfortable. Since the polarteck lining is absorbant you don't sweat in the suit like you do in neoprene suit and it also does not stink like neoprene. Finally it is a breeze to put on and take off- I am totally sold on the suit for waters that do not require a dry suit. It supposidly has the insulating qualities of 2mm of neoprene so it is not made for lengthy immersion in very cold waters and would only give limited protection in those waters. I use mine here in New England mainly for Dec (sometimes Jan) kayaking and early spring kayaking and feel it gives me an adequate margin of safety should I wet exit, and it is all I need to keep the winter/spring chill off when out of the kayak exploring etc. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
